Hi, In general, SSL(Secure Socket Layer) is a security protocol that creates encrypted information between a server and a client. HTTPS is a combination of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) with either SSL or TLS. In order to have an HTTPS connection, it is necessary to use SSL. On enabling SSL, the communication will be secured which leads to the URL having HTTPS. Further, you could enable HTTPS for different components such as Denodo Platform servers, embedded Apache Tomcat, external clients etc. For more information, you could refer to the[ Enable SSL/TLS in the Denodo Platform](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/8.0/en/platform/installation/postinstallation_tasks/enable_ssl_connections_in_the_denodo_platform_servers/enable_ssl_connections_in_the_denodo_platform_servers) section of the Denodo Platform Installation Guide. In order to secure the communication between clients and the web applications running in the Apache Tomcat embedded within the Denodo Platform you could enable [HTTPS in the Embedded Apache Tomcat](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/8.0/en/platform/installation/postinstallation_tasks/enable_ssl_connections_in_the_denodo_platform_servers/enabling_https_in_the_embedded_apache_tomcat). Hope this helps!
