Can you assign a role in Denodo Data Catalog at the Category or folder level

We have 1 database but many Categories and Folders and Sub-folders with their own hierarchies. Can we assign users and roles at the Category and/or folder level. Example We want Data Steward 1 to have access to 3 out of 5 Categories. Within one of the Categories there are 5 folders/sub-categories and we want the person to have access to only two of the 5 sub folders. Please confirm this can be done in Data Catalog and where to read up on how to assign. If not in Data Catalog can this be done with VDP. It is important to note that there is only one database and we need the ability to assign different roles/permissions at a lower level then across the database.

Hi, For this scenario, I would suggest you to perform the following steps: 1. In the Virtual DataPort Administration Tool, create the folders/subfolders and move the associated elements inside the folders/subfolders accordingly as your requirement in the Data Catalog. 1. Then, [assign privileges]( over all the existing elements of a folder where the particular user or role (eg: Data_steward) can access only those elements and these permissions will be set individually over each one of the elements inside that folder. 1. Then create a similar [Category]( structure in the Data Catalog containing the folders/subfolders that is same as that of the folder structure created in the Virtual DataPort Administration Tool. 1. Now, Log in as the ‘Data_steward’ user into Denodo Data Catalog and by browsing the ‘Categories’ option, you could only access the elements of the folders according to the privileges that you provided in Step 2. Also, if you have an active support account, you could open a [support ticket]( for further questions related to Data Catalog. Hope this helps!
