Denodo cache in AWS

What is the best database alternative to use in AWS as Denodo cache? (having S3 as main source to create "virtual datamarts").

Hi, In order to choose the right database caching engine which usually differs for different use cases, you could refer to the section **"Selecting the Caching Engine Database"** of [Best Practices to Maximize Performance III: Caching](https://community.denodo.com/kb/view/document/Best%20Practices%20to%20Maximize%20Performance%20III:%20Caching?category=Best+Practices) Knowledge Base article. You could also refer to the section [List of databases supported by the Cache Engine](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/7.0/vdp/administration/cache_module/cache_module#list-of-databases-supported-by-the-cache-engine) for more information. Hope this helps!

Hi, I have checked that Athena is one of the allowed options to be used as cache in Denodo. Is this realistic? Does Athena really works like other databases? Does it creates information in a new S3 file to be used as "cache"?

Hi, For your scenario, you could use Athena as cache database and as explained in [**How to connect to Amazon Athena from Denodo**](https://community.denodo.com/kb/view/document/How%20to%20connect%20to%20Amazon%20Athena%20from%20Denodo?category=Data+Sources) Knowledge Base article, Amazon Athena allows connectivity from Denodo using an official JDBC driver. Since Denodo 7.0 update 20190903, there is a native Amazon Athena database adapter. For earlier versions, the Presto adapter is the recommended solution, but there are some considerations that have to be taken into account as explained in the Knowledge Base. Hope this helps!
