Hi, I have experienced similar errors, when starting the Denodo Monitor when it is unable to connect to the VDP server, ``` java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect ``` The above error would occur when the connection fails on trying to connect with the Virtual DataPort Server. In order to resolve the error, I would check, if the server is trying to connect with the correct [jmx port](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/8.0/en/platform/installation/appendix/default_ports_used_by_the_denodo_platform_modules/default_ports_used_by_the_denodo_platform_modules) that is being used for monitoring (default port 9997). Hence, please ensure to Edit the **ConfigurationParameters.properties** file which is available under the path, <DENODO_HOME>\tools\monitor\denodo-monitor\conf, to configure the jmx.host, jmx.port etc accordingly to connect to the Virtual DataPort server without any issue. For instance: ``` # ============================================================================= # Connection Parameters to the Virtual DataPort server # ============================================================================= vdp.jmx.host=localhost vdp.jmx.port=9997 vdp.jmx.user=admin vdp.jmx.password=admin ``` Additionally, please note that the jmx port (9997) might be blocked for connections from the server and please ensure if the port is not restricted by any [firewalls](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/latest/en/platform/installation/appendix/default_ports_used_by_the_denodo_platform_modules/default_ports_used_by_the_denodo_platform_modules#:~:text=of%20Virtual%20DataPort.-,9997,-and%209995%20to). For further information, please refer to [Configuring the Denodo Monitor](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/8.0/en/vdp/administration/monitoring_the_virtual_dataport_server/denodo_monitor/configuring_the_denodo_monitor) on configuring the Monitoring Paramters for Denodo. If you still need further assistance and if you are a valid support user, you can raise a [Support Case](https://support.denodo.com/cases/add), for further assistance from the Support Team. Hope it helps!

Hi, The error messages indicate that the connection for the ports`9995` and ``9997`` is failing which could be due to a variety of reasons such as network issue, firewall restrictions etc . Hence, please ensure that the ports 9997 and 9995 are open on the Windows Firewall to allow connections to the monitoring interface of Virtual DataPort (JMX). Please refer to the [Ports to Open on a Firewall](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/latest/en/platform/installation/appendix/default_ports_used_by_the_denodo_platform_modules/default_ports_used_by_the_denodo_platform_modules#:~:text=of%20Virtual%20DataPort.-,9997,-and%209995%20to) section of the Denodo Platform Installation Guide for more information. Also, please refer to [Configuring the Denodo Monitor](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/8.0/en/vdp/administration/monitoring_the_virtual_dataport_server/denodo_monitor/configuring_the_denodo_monitor) section for further information on configuring the Monitoring Parameters for Denodo. If you still need further assistance and if you are a valid support user, you can raise a [Support Case](https://support.denodo.com/cases/add), for further assistance from the Support Team. Hope it helps!
