Access PDF, Excel files with VDP installed in Linux

Hi: If VDP is installed in a Linux platform, can we still utilize the Aracne and ITPilot modules to access Excel, PDF, and unstructured data? The installation talks about ITpilot and Aracne need for Windows, but please help us understand if there is way to architect VDP on Linux, to utilize Aracne/ITPilot. Thanks, Kumar Ponraj

Hi, Yes, you can utilize the Aracne and ITPilot in the Linux platform to access Excel, PDF and unstructured data. In Linux you can use the Denodo Platform Control Center to launch all the tools and servers as usual. Also you can use the *.sh scripts available in the <DENODO_HOME>/bin folder. If you are trying to access the data in the Excel file, the best method is to have the VDP installed and utilize the Excel data source available in the same. For PDF and unstructured data you can use the Aracne and ITPilot. However in Linux, you won't be able to use the IECrawler in Aracne and MSIE browser in ITPilot, as Internet Explorer is not available in the Linux platform. Hope this helps.
