You can translate the question and the replies:

Is there any chance that unicode support will be added to express?

Our company is seriously considering building integration using virtualization and we cannot perform a worthy POC without the ability to connect our tools to Donodo databases using standard ODBC drivers. We are encountering errors like 'Using unicode characters in identifiers is not allowed by the license'. This is a major setback because we can't demonstrate the integration possiblities with our current tools. To decision makers, this appears to be a hard-fast incompatibility when it's truly a limitation of Donodo Express.

Hello! It is unfortunate that Express is not meeting your requirements for your POC, but our sales team has contacted you to discuss options that work for you. If you haven't heard from them let us know. As an aside, our recommended way of connecting to the Denodo Platform is to use JDBC, as it is faster than ODBC and generally easier to configure. What client tool are you using to connect to Denodo? We are also currently reviewing the decision to limit Unicode identifiers in the Express edition and will notify the community as soon as we reach a decision.

Thank you for the call and reply to my question. Unfortunately, our BI tool of choice does not have the ability to connect to data sources via JDBC. Again, thank you for your time and I'll reach back out when I can provide a more formalized set of requirements to you for the POC.

Hello! Due to the feedback we received from the Denodo Community, we implemented some updates for Denodo Express we think you could find useful: - Unicode Support, so you can integrate with even more BI tools like Tableau or Microstrategy. - Apache Derby database support – because you asked for it and we listened. Prototype solutions that use cache with just one click and zero configuration. How do you update? You don't need to reinstall the software; just Download the new Denodo Express license file from the Denodo Express Community page https://community.denodo.com/express/download - as you did the first time - install it in your current Denodo Platform installation (through the Help menu of the Denodo Platform Control Center) and restart Denodo Express. Changes will be applied automatically and don’t worry, you won’t lose any work.
