Training Labs - Virtual Machine Setup

Denodo Express - latest version Oracle VM Virtual Box 7.0 - Denodo Training QuickStart Virtual Machine.ova I have everything configured according to the Training Video for setting up the Virtual Machine but when I try to ping my data server - it times out. Not sure if this is related but in the Denodo Virtual DataPort Administration Tool - when I test the JDBC connection, it fails with an error, "Unable to establish connection; IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection."

Hi, Good day! The very first time while I am trying to configure, I also faced same kind of situation. I have not edited the "hosts" file. When the DQVM is launched and logged in. We can execute the command "ip addr" to get the IP of the machine you can use that for connecting to the data source for the different training labs. We have to edit the local host file (“C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc”) with admin privilege by using data-server as the hostname. Once changes made click on "save" button to save the file. Whether the modification made in the hosts file is appropriate or not, you can perform this simple step. Open the command prompt and ping "ping data-server". If this works, your JDBC connection will also work accordingly. Please check out this user guide "[Denodo Training QuickStart Virtual Machine - User Manual](https://denodolearning.litmos.com/Download/2718e54d-6495-4f82-b18b-fa416b85bf70?orgId=35265)" is available in the section "Virtual Machine Configuration (DEN80EDU00CONF02)" of the module "Configuration(DEN80EDU12DCONF)" and also, you can find the module DEN80EDU00VID02 all the steps listed in the video. If you have more questions related to training courses then we recommend you to write to us at "training@denodo.com" Hope this helps. Thank you.

I completed all of those steps and I am still receiving a timeout message when I test the -data server in the command prompt - the host that I added to the host file is displayed but connection timing out - what other steps can I check to find out why my maching is not able to work with the VM?

Hello again, You can check if you have installed a firewall, antivirus, or a proxy on your computer that can be blocking the download of the DQVM? Another test you can do is to ping the local machine from the Virtual Machine and check the connection works. Have a good day! Thank you.
