Load metadata in Denodo Data Catalog

Can you let me know if there is any way I can use a excel file to upload the metadata about the view i.e., lets assume I need to add column description for more than 50 columns in a base view, then can that be done via Excel file loading

Hi, I was able to update the column description of the view in Virtual DataPort server using Excel file by following the steps mentioned in the similar Q& A **[here](https://community.denodo.com/answers/question/details?questionId=9060g000000TRIdAAO&title=How+to+update+the+derived+view+DESCRIPTION.++We+have+a+excel+file+which+has+field+name+and+description+.+How+to+update+the+description+field)**, which explains in details with steps. Once the descritpion of the fields has been update in Virtual Dataport Server, I would to use "**Synchronize with VDP server**" option in Data Catalog to synchronize the metadata with the Virtual DataPort server (to update the field description of the view in Data Catalog). Note that to modify the description for the columns in **base views**, you could use the **ALTER TABLE <base_view>** command instead of ALTER VIEW <derived_view>. For more details, you can refer to [Modifying a Base View](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/7.0/vdp/vql/creating_a_base_view/modifying_a_base_view/modifying_a_base_view#modifying-a-base-view) section of the Virtual DataPort VQL Guide and [Synchronize Elements with the Server](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/7.0/vdp/data_catalog/administration/catalog_management/elements_configuration/elements_configuration#synchronize-elements-with-the-server) section of the Data Catalog Guide. If you still need help and if you are a valid Support User, you may open a Support Case at the Denodo Support Site and the Support Team will help you. Hope this helps!
