change query-log values

Hi, by exploring the logfiles, in vdp-queries.log is one column called "server_name", having the value "vdp" in all logfiles. Is it possible to configure denodo to show the physical name of the server in this column?

Hi, The name “**vdp**” in the “**vdp**-queries.log” is the ServerName logged in the log file. ServerName “vdp” is a hard coded value in ConfigurationParameters.properties file located in “Denodo_Home>\tools\monitor\denodo-monitor\conf\” directory. You can refer to a similar community question [here](https://community.denodo.com/answers/question/details?questionId=90670000000CcMIAA0) if you want to modify the ServerName. For your scenario, you may refer to the “Host” column. The “Host” column in vdp-queries.log file logs the host or physical IP address of the Virtual Dataport server. For more details, you can refer to Knowledge Base article [Log column details](https://community.denodo.com/kb/view/document/Log%20column%20details?category=Operation). Hope this helps!

Hi, I found the config file, but when I look for "vdp", variables having this value are: vdp.extensions=vdp monitors.remote=vdp next to these variables, no other variables are set to "vdp", when I update vdp.extensions to another value and restart the denodo services, column "ServerName" is not updated to that value in new log lines. Can you describe how to do this? The other thing, column "host" is set here to the value "localhost", is this configurable?

Hi, I would modify the monitors.remote=<NewServerName> and then replicate all the properties that start with the “vdp.” prefix using the prefix that you specified in the <NewServerName>. For instance: You have to replicate/modify the vdp.monitors to <NewServerName>.monitors and so on. The host can be configured in property <NewServerName>.jmx.host to a hostname or IP address that is set in the [RMI host configuration](https://community.denodo.com/kb/view/document/RMI%20host%20configuration?category=Operation) of the Virtual DataPort Server. Hope this helps!

Hi, regarding the change of the "host" column for the vdp-queries.log file, I've been searching a lot of configuration (.properties) files. I've seen a lot of "localhost" values in these files, can you describe what parameter in which configuration file I have to modify from "localhost" to the server IP or server Name? kind regards

Hi, I would first change the hostname in the Virtual Dataport server. 1. Edit the file <DENODO_HOME>/conf/vdp/VDBConfiguration.properties and set the property: com.denodo.vdb.vdbinterface.server.VDBManagerImpl.registryURL to the new hostname or IP address. 2. Execute the <DENODO_HOME>/bin/regenerateFiles{.sh|.bat} script in order to propagate the changes to the startup scripts. 3. Restart the Virtual DataPort server for the changes to take effect. 4. Login from Virtual Dataport Administration Tool with the new Hostname or IP address to make sure the connection is successfully established. For more details, you can refer to knowledge base article [ RMI host configuration](https://community.denodo.com/kb/view/document/RMI%20host%20configuration?category=Operation) of the Virtual DataPort Server. To change the "host" column in vdp-queries.log file 1. Edit the file <Denodo_Home>\tools\monitor\denodo-monitor\conf\ConfigurationParameters.properties and set the property: vdp.jmx.host to the new RMI hostname or IP address. 2. Restart the Denodomonitor for the changes to take effect. 3. The vdp-queries.log file will have the new hostname after any new queries are executed against the Virtual DataPort server. Hope this helps!
