Cache Refresh Issue

Cache DB: Oracle Denodo Version: 7.0 Caching Mode: Full cache Current Setup: There are two prod servers under a load balancer. There is one cache DB that is configured for both the server. Hello, we have a unique situation with the cache DB and scheduler. We are able to cache the views when we run the query in VDP with "store results in cache" and "invalidate existing results" check boxes selected. When we run VDP cache job to cache the same views in scheduler, it shows the status as complete and processed X rows, but not inserting any rows into the cache. We verified the configuration of the cache DB in the scheduler and it all looks good. We are looking to reboot the cache DB server to see that fixes the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

Hi, When I try to execute the VDP cache job in Denodo Scheduler, I was able to execute the job successfully and the result is stored in the cache database as expected. To analyze the root cause of the issue, I would modify the Virtual DataPort log level as “Debug’’ in <DENODO_HOME>/conf/vdp/log4j2 , execute the VDP Cache job and check for the possible causes in the vdp.log file in <DENODO_HOME>/logs/vdp. For more information, you could refer to the section [Log Configuration]( and [VDPCache Extraction Section]( of the Scheduler Administration Guide. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the details. We did run the job with the log level of "Debug". The log file did not have any error, and at the same time, it is not clear the view was written successfully into the cache. We do see the number of records processed and "getViewCache: the view 'project.finalquery' already exists in cache". Does this mean the view already exists and not created for this run? There is no information about the successful insert of rows. The Oracle Cache DB restart is not possible at this time due to dependency on other applications running on that DB. Also, ran the cachecontext stored procedure, and the expiration date for this view is not the time it was run after setting to debug level. Based on the documentation for full mode, this expiration date is the last refresh time. Please suggest any other options. Thanks again for your time.

Hi, In order to know how many rows are inserted in the cache data source. I would execute the below command in VQL shell, > call LogController (‘com.denodo.vdb.util.tablemanagement’, ‘TRACE’) Then execute the VDP Cache job in Denodo Scheduler and check the vdp.log file at **<DENODO_HOME>/logs/vdp** . In the Log file, you could able view the inserted/updates rows in the cache data source. Hope this helps!
