The **[RESTFul Web Service](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/7.0/vdp/administration/restful_architecture/restful_web_service/restful_web_service)** of the Denodo Platform is an HTTP service, which provides an access to all the views created in the Virtual Dataport Server. The RESTFul WebService can represent the data of the view in the following three formats.
* XML Representation
* JSON Representation
* HTML Reprersentation
By default, the RESTful Web service returns the data represented in HTML, but clients can choose another representation (XML or JSON) by either sending the appropriate Accept header in the HTTP request or by including the **$format** [parameter](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/7.0/vdp/administration/restful_architecture/restful_web_service/input_parameters_of_the_restful_web_service) in the URL to invoke the Web service.
Additionally, you can use the published REST Web Service to **publish a set of views and associations** and make it available to the client. The Published REST Web services provide similar features and work pretty much in the same way as the RESTful Web service. However, there are a few features that the REST web services have and the RESTful web service do not.
For more information, refer to the [Published REST Web Service](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/7.0/vdp/administration/publication_of_web_services/publishing_rest_web_services/publishing_rest_web_services) section of the Virtual DataPort Administration Guide.
Hope this helps!
