Hi, The Knowledge Base article [Linux startup scripts for Virtual DataPort, Scheduler and Web Tools](https://community.denodo.com/kb/en/view/document/Linux%20startup%20scripts%20for%20Virtual%20DataPort%2C%20Scheduler%20and%20Web%20Tools) provides steps to start/stop/restart the Denodo services in Linux environments. In order to check the status of the Denodo services, you can use the *[ping](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/8.0/en/vdp/administration/cluster_architectures_server_backup/how_to_check_if_a_virtual_dataport_server_is_alive/how_to_check_if_a_virtual_dataport_server_is_alive)* service to check whether the Denodo service is running. For instance, “*ping -t 30000 -v //localhost:9999*” command sends a request to Virtual DataPort and listens to port 9999 with a timeout of 30 seconds and the response would be “*//localhost:9999 - ping OK!*” . Create your own Linux shell script in such a way that it uses Ping service to check the status of the Denodo service and you can also add further enhancements to send notifications when the server is down or when the server is restarted. You can also configure cron jobs to execute the scripts to send automatic notification on regular intervals. For more information, you can refer to the [How to Check If a Virtual DataPort Server Is Alive](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/8.0/en/vdp/administration/cluster_architectures_server_backup/how_to_check_if_a_virtual_dataport_server_is_alive/how_to_check_if_a_virtual_dataport_server_is_alive) section of Virtual DataPort Administration Guide and [Linux startup scripts for the Denodo Platform](https://community.denodo.com/kb/en/view/document/Linux%20startup%20scripts%20for%20the%20Denodo%20Platform) Knowledge Base article. Hope this helps!

Hi, I would follow the instructions provided in the section [Health Monitoring](https://community.denodo.com/docs/html/browse/8.0/en/platform/installation/appendix/health_monitoring/health_monitoring#health-monitoring) of the Denodo Platform Installation Guide which explains how to check if the components of the Denodo Platform are “alive”. Hope this helps!
