Oracle

Before using the Oracle API to perform bulk data loads, you need to install the Oracle client sqlldr. To do it, follow these steps:

  1. Download the package Oracle Database Client (you do not need the installer of the full database). Download it from the URLs below:

    For Oracle 11g:

    1. If the host is a 64-bit Windows: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.html
    2. If the host is Linux: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-linx8664soft-100572.html

In this page, search the “Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client”.

  2. Install this package on host where the Virtual DataPort server runs.

During the installation, select the Administrator installation type to install sqlldr.

The default options of the installer are correct.

  3. Enable direct path loads on Oracle. To do this, follow the instructions described in https://docs.oracle.com/cd/A57673_01/DOC/server/doc/SUT73/ch8.htm#toc132

    Important

If you cannot enable this feature on the database, do not enable bulk data loads in Virtual DataPort because the performance will be much worse than with the regular method of inserting data into Oracle (i.e. executing INSERT statements).

After this, when enabling “Use bulk data load API” on the “Read & Write” tab of the data source, enter the path sqlldr in the Sqlldr executable location box.
