Administration¶
As an administrator, you will see the Administration menu, which gives you access to all the settings of the Data Catalog. Click on the Set-up and management option and the administration page will appear.
The settings of the Data Catalog are organized into three groups:
Server. It groups all the settings of the Data Catalog server, such as the list of Virtual DataPort servers, the Kerberos authentication, the metadata database, and more.
Content search. From here you can configure the index servers used in the search by content.
Personalization. You will find here all the settings to adapt the Data Catalog interface to your needs, such as the options available for the users, the theme, an informative message, etc.
Requests. From here you can configure an email server to send notifications related to user actions on its requests. This section is visible when you have management permissions for some of the existing request types.
From the administration page you can also manage your catalog items:
Categories. It allows you to build the tree of categories and assign them to views and web services.
Tags. From here you can define the list of tags used to describe views and web services.
Elements. It allows you to manage the databases, views and web services synchronized with Virtual DataPort.
Property groups. You can create groups of custom properties and assign them to databases, views and web services in order to improve the available information about them.
In addition, the Administration menu has two more options that allows you to:
Import and export the catalog metadata and all the settings explained above.
Synchronize with Virtual DataPort all the elements in the catalog.
Note
Remember that you can grant power users the privileges to do some of these administration tasks.
