Usage of Web Services¶
Virtual DataPort can be configured to gather information about the queries it processes in logs. This allows the Data Catalog to analyze these logs and compile usage statistics that describe how are the queries received by a web service.
The Usage tab shows the usage statistics for the web service. You can select which period you want to check: previous day, previous 30 days or all time. For each period, you will see the following usage data:
The average number of results of a query.
The average execution time of a query.
The number of different users who executed a query.
The 3 most frequent users that executed a query on this web service and, for each user, the number of queries executed.
The number of different applications from where a query was executed. Notice that the application of a query is identified by its user agent.
The 3 most frequent applications from where a query was executed and, for each application, the number of queries executed.
The number of queries executed on the web service.
The 10 most executed queries and, for each query, the number of times executed.
Note
Depending on the data collected by Virtual DataPort in the logs and the personalization configuration of Data Catalog some usage statistics may not be available:
If there is no data about the web service in the logs, the Usage tab will not be available.
If there is no data about the web service for a specific period in the logs, that period will not be available.
The administrator of the Data Catalog may have disabled the rankings of users, applications or queries or the whole usage statistics for some periods.
Important
For the usage statistics to be available, the administrator of the Data Catalog has to configure the gathering of statistics.
