Denodo Scheduler integration with ServiceNow
You can translate the document:Introduction
By utilizing the Mail Handler in a Denodo Scheduler job, we can create incidents automatically in ServiceNow, a platform for the creation and management of automated business workflows.
Configuration
Denodo Scheduler
As a first step, you have to configure the Mail Settings in the Administration > Server-Set Up > Server section in Denodo Scheduler to configure the mail server that will be used to send the emails.
As a next step, create a Scheduler job and add a mail handler to send a notification to the corresponding email address whenever the job errors out. Follow the below steps for configuring the Mail in the Handler section,
- Mail address: Add the mail address where you want to receive the email notifications.
- When to send: Choose the In case - Error option, which would send the mail to the mail address specified whenever the job fails.
ServiceNow
Configure the Email Properties in ServiceNow, to allow and send emails by navigating to the System Mailboxes > Administrations > Email Properties section.
- Check the Email receiving enabled checkbox in order to allow ServiceNow to receive email notifications.
Configure the email account in ServiceNow and test it by navigating to the System Mailboxes > Administrations > Email Accounts path.
- Create a new email account if there is no existing email account by following the below steps:
- Name: Provide a name to the email account.
- Type: Select the type of the mail protocol that needs to be used, for instance IMAP.
- Authentication: Choose Password from the list of options displayed.
- Server: Server name for the protocol selected in the Type field.
- Port: Port for the protocol selected in the Type field.
- Connection Security: SSL/TLS needs to be selected here.
- Username: Email address of the account that receives email notifications from Denodo Scheduler.
- Password: Application Password configured for the email address.
- Active: In order to activate the Mail account created, the Active option needs to be checked.
Finally, click on Test connection to test the connectivity to the Mail address and if successful, proceed further.
Note: Remember to enable IMAP/POP3 mechanisms to the mail account with an App Password created as well.
Check if the receiving and connection status of the email configured is fine and is in green status by navigating to the System Mailboxes > Administrations > Email Diagnostics section. Once the connection status and the Email receiving options are operational, move to the next steps.
- In the Inbound Email Action, create a new action and configure the fields as following:
- Name: Provide a name to create an incident related to Denodo.
- Target table: Choose Incident [incident] from the list of options, as we need to create an incident upon an email notification.
- Action type: Record Action needs to be selected as an incident needs to be created
- Active: Check the Active option, as the action has to be performed.
- Under the When to run section, configure the Conditions field to select the Email which has Denodo Scheduler in its Subject/Body.
- Under the Action section, fill in the field actions and the Script as per your requirement.
Find below a sample script for a simple incident creation:
|
current.caller_id = gs.getUserID(); // Defaults to the person who sent the email current.comments = "received from: " + email.origemail; current.short_description = email.subject; current.description = email.body_text; current.contact_type = "email"; current.insert(); |
- Finally, under the Incidents section you will find the list of incidents created each time an email is received in the Mail Inbox.
