When configuring the cache system the option "UTF-8 data types" for using data types supporting UTF-8 is disabled by default. This option has to be enabled to support double byte characters and, in general, any Unicode character.

If enabled, the tables in the cache database are created with types that support Unicode characters but, in this case, the cache system will be notably less performant because these types require more storage space.

If the cache database has been previously set up without enabling this option, it will be necessary to first delete the tables from the cache database so that they are properly recreated with the new configuration.
