Implementing My First Logical Data Integration

Course content

This course provides data developers with the concepts, terminology and skills needed to develop your first data integration project using Denodo Platform.

Note: This course uses Denodo 9. If you work with Denodo 8.0, you might be interested in the course Connecting and Combining Data with Denodo.

This course has been updated with the Denodo Platform 9.2.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of databases and Structured Query Language (SQL) are required.

Topics

• Quick Review of Denodo Platform: Understand the core Denodo Platform Architecture and learn to navigate the web-based development environment using Denodo Design Studio.
• Connecting to SQL, Analytical, and NoSQL Sources: Learn to configure data sources, import tables graphically, run custom SQL queries or stored procedures, and create base views from both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Execution of Denodo Views: Execute queries over base views directly from the Execution Panel and analyze the returned query results.
• Basic Derived Views (Selection, Projection, Functions): Build selection and projection views, use view parameters to filter output datasets, and leverage native functions within Virtual DataPort to calculate data like employee seniority.
• Accessing Files from Denodo: Configure path types to access, import, and create base views from delimited files, Excel spreadsheets, and distributed file systems.
• Union Views: Combine disparate data sets into unified structures by creating and configuring Union views.
• Connecting to REST APIs: Connect to modern web services by creating data sources and base views from JSON, XML, SOAP web services, and SaaS applications like Salesforce.
• Join Views: Master different join types and execution methods, create and optimize the execution plan of Join views, and utilize the similarity operator.
• Aggregations: Apply aggregation functions to summarize data, build standalone aggregation views, and design complex structures combining joins with aggregations.
• Compound Types and Flatten Operation: Handle complex data structures by flattening registers and arrays, utilizing inverse operations like Register and Nest to create compound fields, and applying conditions with compound-type constants.
• Error Analysis: Inspect the execution trace of your queries, configure Virtual DataPort logs to capture errors, and apply troubleshooting techniques to resolve issues.

Training resources

• Instructor-Led Public/Virtual classes:
  • Students will receive an electronic copy of the presentations used during the training.
  • Each student will receive a 1-month Denodo Platform training license (full capability).
  • Each student will have access to a pre-created Denodo Platform environment in the cloud to complete the labs of the course.

• On-demand classes:
  • Students have to use a local environment for doing the labs. It is recommended using the Denodo Community Lab Environment for creating the local environment.
  • A Denodo Platform license is required. Denodo Express can be used for doing the labs (with some limitations).

Price

At your own pace:

• At on-demand training**: On-demand training is complimentary to Denodo customers and partners and anyone with a corporate or educational email address. Personal email addresses are not supported.

Instructor-led training:

• At virtual classrooms**: $800 USD  
• At public classrooms*: $1000 USD  
• At customer's facilities: request a private training

Cancellation policies

• Instructor-Led Public/Virtual classes:
  • Requests for cancellations or date transfers need to be received by Denodo at least ten (10) business days prior to the course start date in order to receive a full refund. If cancellation or reschedule requests are received less than ten (10) business days before the course start date, the penalty of 100% of the cost of the course will be applied, resulting in no amount of the fee being refunded. There will be no penalty for requesting a reschedule more than ten (10) business days prior to the course start date. Denodo reserves the right to cancel courses for any reason up to five (5) business days prior to the course start date.
  • In the event that a course is canceled, Denodo will secure a future course date or refund the fee in full. It is recommended that you do not make any travel arrangements until the class is confirmed.
