Logical Data Management for Architects

Course content

This course covers architectural patterns for the use of Denodo Platform and best practices for performance optimization, data services governance, scalability and operation. Students will learn how to architect a logical data management infrastructure to manage the different data workloads with the performance and reliability demanded by the consuming business applications.

Note: This course uses Denodo 9. If you work with Denodo 8.0, you might be interested in the course Data Virtualization Architect.

This course has been updated with the Denodo Platform 9.0.

An understanding of data virtualization concepts is required.

• Introduction to Logical Data Management for Architects: Gain a solid foundation in logical data architectures, understand the core principles of data virtualization, and explore the standard reference architecture for logical data management.
• Logical Data Management in Action: Walk through a complete project showcase demonstrating the connect, combine, and consume workflow across multiple modeling layers (connectivity, integration, business, data services, and application) using Denodo Solution Manager and Design Studio, culminating in data consumption via PowerBI.
• Logical Data Management Key Use Cases and Patterns: Explore critical enterprise use cases—such as data democratization, centralized governance, and infrastructure modernization—and study vital architectural patterns like the Logical Data Warehouse, hybrid/multi-cloud migrations, and unified single views.
• Performance: Master query optimization and performance benchmarks through deep dives into query rewriting, delegation techniques for large data volumes, caching mechanisms, the Denodo Lakehouse Accelerator engine, Smart Query Acceleration, and Resource Manager configuration.
• Security and Data Privacy: Deep dive into the Denodo Platform security architecture, covering secure authentication and authorization protocols, data privacy frameworks, and comprehensive system auditing.
• Data Marketplace: Learn to use the Denodo Data Marketplace to discover data via AI-powered recommendations, validate quality using lineage and profiling, customize datasets with data preparation wizards, enforce data governance (including FinOps), and leverage Generative AI.
• Deployment Architectures: Evaluate robust deployment frameworks, understanding the role of core platform components, the Denodo Solution Manager, Denodo Managed Services, and various cloud reference architectures.

Training resources

• Instructor-Led Public/Virtual classes:
  • Students will receive an electronic copy of the presentations used during the training.
  • Each student will receive a 1-month Denodo Platform training license (full capability).
  • Each student will have access to a pre-created Denodo Platform environment in the cloud to complete the labs of the course.

• On-demand classes:
  • Students have to use a local environment for doing the labs. It is recommended using the Denodo Community Lab Environment for creating the local environment.
  • A Denodo Platform license is required. Denodo Express can be used for doing the labs (with some limitations).

At your own pace:

• At on-demand training: On-demand training is complimentary to Denodo customers and partners and anyone with a corporate or educational email address. Personal email addresses are not supported.

Instructor-led training:

• At virtual classrooms**: $800 USD
• At public classrooms*: $1000 USD
• At customer's facilities: request a private training

Cancellation policies

• Instructor-Led Public/Virtual classes:
  • Requests for cancellations or date transfers need to be received by Denodo at least ten (10) business days prior to the course start date in order to receive a full refund. If cancellation or reschedule requests are received less than ten (10) business days before the course start date, the penalty of 100% of the cost of the course will be applied, resulting in no amount of the fee being refunded. There will be no penalty for requesting a reschedule more than ten (10) business days prior to the course start date. Denodo reserves the right to cancel courses for any reason up to five (5) business days prior to the course start date.
  • In the event that a course is canceled, Denodo will secure a future course date or refund the fee in full. It is recommended that you do not make any travel arrangements until the class is confirmed.
